“How to enable a dynamic and coordinated support eco system for scale-up companies?”
In the beginning of May 2019 on the Slovenia coast, in Portorož, Chamber of Craft and Small Business of Slovenia (CCSBS) organized the event “How to enable a dynamic and coordinated support eco system for scale-up companies?” within the framework of the project SCALE(up)ALPS, which is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund program through the Interreg Alpine Space program.
The event addressed the SME and innovative support environment, start-up / scale-up companies, professional public, as well as to all those interested in the topic and who are somehow active in this field.
The group of speakers reflected the rich variety of support ecosystem in Slovenia: representatives of scaleup companies, incubators, technology parks, policy makers, chambers, financial providers. In recent years, Slovenia has witnessed the rapid and dynamic development of the national start-up / scale-up ecosystem. The innovative and support environment and infrastructure of the entities of an innovative environment have been strengthened, where technological parks, university incubators and entrepreneurial accelerators take on a prominent role, linking various sources of financing, mentoring, professional support, companies and research institutions within their programs, and ensuring spatial conditions and infrastructure. But nevertheless there is still a room for further improvement of joint collaboration.
In the fruitful discussion, led by Larisa Vodeb, CCSBS, the respective panellists took part: Mr Marko Lotrič, director of Lotrič Meroslovje, Mr Igor Milek from Public Agency for Entrepreneurship, Internationalization, Fore¬ign Investments and Technology – SPIRIT, Mrs Natalija Stošicki from SID Bank, Mr Dorijan Maršič, director of Incubator Primorska, Mrs Maja Križmanič, director of the Flexyteam, Mr Marino M. Samardžija, director of the Saving and Mrs Mojca Cvirn from Technology Park Ljubljana.
Speakers outlined the framework to strengthen coordinated action of the support environment for start up and scale-up businesses and identified the synergies between ecosystem stakeholders. All agree that the start up and scale up ecosystem is very well developed, but there is still a niche for specific support for individual needs of scale-up business and companies.
